Green Energy and Environmental Technology Journal: Supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals

05 November 2024

As a signatory to the United Nations SDG Publishers Compact, we are committed to supporting  the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through our entire publishing programme, including our Open Science journal portfolio, particularly the Green Energy and Environmental Technology journal, which aligns most closely with these goals.

This commitment is reflected in the scope of GEET, which focuses on renewable energies, environmental engineering, and sustainable technologies.

Nearly 70% of the journal’s publications directly contribute to key SDGs, including Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).

We will continue to build on this foundation by increasing the proportion of publications addressing the SDGs and expanding into critical research areas essential for sustainability, further reinforcing our commitment to driving global progress.

By supporting interdisciplinary work, GEET enables research to reach a wider international audience, extending its impact beyond specific disciplines and fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across fields. This approach is crucial for tackling the interconnectedness of the SDGs. For instance, advancements in clean energy (SDG 7) can significantly boost climate action (SDG 13), public health (SDG 3), and sustainable urban development (SDG 11). Such interdependence highlights the necessity for innovative solutions, particularly through early-stage technologies.

As we move forward, we are excited to see researchers choosing GEET as their publication venue, acknowledging the journal’s role in advancing solutions to global challenges through open science. To further highlight research that contributes to these vital goals, we are adding SDG icons to articles directly related to the SDGs. This feature will make it easier for readers to identify and connect with works that align with these important objectives.
