Vladimir Robles-Bykbaev
Dr. Vladimir Robles-Bykbaev is a Full Professor at Politécnica Salesiana University, where he teaches the Computer Vision course in both the Computer Science Career and the Computer Science Doctoral Program. He holds a UNESCO Chair on Support Technologies for Educational Inclusion and is a founding member of the HL7 Group in Ecuador, reflecting his commitment to advancing health informatics standards in the region. Additionally, Dr. Robles-Bykbaev is an IEEE Senior Member in Computer Science and serves as the IEEE advisor for the Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT), where he promotes the development of technology for social good. Dr. Robles-Bykbaev has authored over 160 scientific papers indexed in SCOPUS, with more than 120 of these published in journals indexed by the Web of Science. His research spans diverse fields, including computer science, artificial intelligence, health informatics, social sciences, psychology, educational inclusion, and cultural heritage. He has participated in numerous research projects, collaborating with local and international institutions. His contributions include projects funded by the French Embassy in Ecuador, Erasmus+, and national research grants, where he has worked on integrating innovative technologies into healthcare, education, and cultural preservation. Dr. Robles-Bykbaev has led initiatives aimed at developing intelligent systems and assistive technologies to improve educational inclusion and address the needs of vulnerable populations. His work includes designing ICT-based solutions for health and education, focusing on accessibility and usability. He has also been instrumental in applying artificial intelligence to enhance cultural heritage preservation and educational systems, making significant contributions to interdisciplinary research. Currently, Dr. Robles-Bykbaev is supervising three Ph.D. theses that address challenges in educational technologies, AI-based healthcare solutions, and the social applications of intelligent systems. His academic career also includes mentoring more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering innovation and critical thinking in his fields of expertise. Through his leadership roles, Dr. Robles-Bykbaev has established collaborations with various international organizations, contributing to global discussions on technology and inclusion. In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Robles-Bykbaev is actively involved in promoting the ethical application of technology. His involvement with IEEE, particularly as an advisor to SIGHT, underscores his dedication to leveraging technology to solve the most pressing humanitarian challenges. This group has been honored with several awards such as the Exemplary Student Affinity Group in 2022 and 2024 and Dr. Robles-Bykbaev has been recognized as an IEEE Oustanding Branch Counselor Award and Brand Chapter Advisor Award in 2023 from Region 9 (Latin America and the Caribbean). By integrating research, teaching, and international collaboration, Dr. Robles-Bykbaev continues to push the boundaries of knowledge while addressing societal needs through technology-driven solutions.
